Our History
Since 1819 when John Farrer started a family business of Specialist
tea and coffee merchant at 13 Stricklandgate, the tantalizing aroma
of roasting coffee has become a feature of daily life in the market
town of Kendal.
In today’s modern times the coffee is now roasted in our modern
factory on the outskirts of Kendal. Farrers only sell pure origin
Arabica beans. We buy our green beans from a broker in London who
Richard Powell, the director of the company, has had an association
with for more than 40 years.
All of our coffee is purchased from a known source and the London
broker knows the families of the farmers personally. The brokers
make regular trip to the farms to ensure that quality of the conditions
for the workers is of a high standard. The farmers are also brought
over to England to see the results of their hard work.
As well as our fairly sourced coffee we also supply Fair Trade Coffee.
